Folkestone U13s 5 Thanet U13s 40
Sunday 22nd November 2015. Report from Neil Adams.
Pitch 4 was the venue for the visit of Thanet, bleak and exposed, combined with the cold weather it was everything players and parents alike don’t wish for.
At the kick off Folkestone were not put off by the chill, instead playing well, attacking and defending with spirit. Unfortunately Thanet scored from an individual run, breaking through the Folkestone ranks to score a good individual try.
From there the nature of the game was set, Folkestone played deep in their own half, defending with gusto, even denying a sure Thanet try almost with will power, holding the ball up preventing the Thanet side grounding the ball.
Folkestone continued in the same vein, defending valiantly, looking for runs from individuals to gain territory and the team to provide the support. Folkestone would have had more success from this had they not been having a rucking off day.
Eventually though it was a piece of individual speed from Ethan Bailey running from the Folkestone 22 to place the ball firmly over the Thanet try line to give Folkestone a feel good boost.
With some slight improvements in rucking and support, Folkestone will be a force to be reckoned with.
The Folkestone boys continue to play with heart, never letting their heads drop and the players should be proud of their attitudes.
Final score Folkestone 5 – 40 Thanet
Try Scorer: Ethan Bailey
