Sunday 25/10/2015 Report from Coach Paul Turner

STONES DIG DEEP TO CONTINUE WINNING RUN.

Stones took to field with a few regulars missing due to injury or on holiday but determined to carry on their excellent start to the season.

From the kick off Stones took control of the game and following a scrum near the Canterbury line Ted Bean broke from the back of the scrum and crashed over the line for the opening score with the conversion missed 5-0. Canterbury reacted and following a period of pressure managed to go over for a try bringing the score to 5-5. The Stones stormed back clearly stunned by the Canterbury score and Tom Whelan was next on the score sheet after a bulldozing 30 metre run saw him cross the line the conversion was missed but Stones were now in front 10-5. The rest of the half was spent in the Canterbury half with Connor O'Brien coming close to a try with the resulting ball fed to Ciaran Hughes unstoppable from 5 metres out going over under the posts with the conversion being added by Ted Bean bringing the half time score to 17-5 in Stones favour.

The second half started brightly and following a long kick ahead from Dylan Barnes it seemed a try was on the cards but an unkind bounce foiled the attempt only for the ball to be recycled to Freddie Faiers who outpaced the defence to go over in the corner and the Stones found themselves ahead 22-5. From this point Stones went somewhat off the boil a few good chances to add to the score were missed by wrong options being taken and Canterbury came back into the game running in two unconverted tries to bring the final score to 22-15 in Stones favour.

The whole team deserve praise for this victory and the tackling and defence was outstanding.
