Folkestone U14s dominate local rivals

Folkestone travelled to a local rivals Ashford for what promised to be an enjoyable match of quality rugby. And our hosts did not disappoint by showing their intention to avenge their last two defeats by Folkestone from the first whistle.
Ashford’s wings were evidently quick and capable lads, who early on got quality ball to run at us. Solid defence and then recovery into an attacking position kept the territorial gains going to and fro, but Folkestone started the scoring with a speedy effort from Josh. The game was still on a knife edge and Ashford battled into Folkestone’s half time and time again, but solid work from the forwards to steal ball and push out to the eager backs meant Tyler could show his blistering pace for our next points.
Ex Ashford player teds had a massive game commanding the backs constantly and worked a snake like run to go over for our next try converted by hobbsie.
Ashford still battled massively, but even their huge forwards could not dominate the rucks and mauls to deny Folkestone huge territorial gain.
Tries followed for Harry and Josh, with Charlie gifting a try to Scrum half Max.
Ashford came back to score a try with the conversion bravely charged down by Harry. Charlie ran a nice line to take us up to 43-5 with hobbsie converting again.
New to Folkestone this season Rob went over for two very different tries, showing really good resilience and strength, with Josh kicking another two points
Every member of the squad today supported a great team performance, and man of the match was a difficult choice, but with massive tackles and great recycling and movement of the ball Hobbsie gets the award this week.
