From our roving reporter Andy Dagger.

Folkestone 2nds provided some champagne rugby in front of a large crowd, a number of whom had been attending the John Lord/Joe Edwards memorial lunch.
Against a much larger pack Folkestone’s forwards took control of the game, with a back row of Will Turner, Scotty Stewart and Kieran Smith dominating the loose play and providing the backline with plenty of possession.
Ashford took an early lead when they converted a penalty from Folkestone’s ten metre line. Folkestone then responded swiftly with some excellent handling skills attacking from their own 22metre line and falling just short of the Ashford line, quick ball from the breakdown was moved swiftly along the back line to Will Turner to go over for Folkestone’s first try.
Playing an open style game Stones continued to apply pressure in the Ashford half and Alex Pritchard was next to score following some good interplay between forwards and backs.
With half time approaching Scotty Stewart crashed over from close range to make it 19-3 to Stones and round off an excellent first half performance.

The second half resulted in more of the same from the Folkestone side with three more excellent tries from Rich Dagger, Bradley Pearson and a first senior try for Frazier Nurse who continues to show good promise for the future. With a significant lead of 38-3 the Ashford forwards continued to work hard and their effort was rewarded with a late consolation try.
Special mention goes to the front row of Pete White, Alex Box (who managed to recover from man flu) and Tom Snare for their sterling performance in the tight. Tim Wood for his excellent display in the lineout and all round display in the loose, Nick Ford for orchestrating the backs well all afternoon with strong performances from Ryan Farrow and Richard Dagger in the centre and Bradley Pearson whose running with the ball from deep was a joy to watch.
Finally it was a game which was a fitting tribute to John and Joe and rounded off an excellent day for all. Well done lads!
Team: Frazier Nurse, Ryan Farrow, Rich Dagger, Bradley Pearson; Alex Pritchard, Nick Ford; Pete White, Alex Box, Tom Snare; Tim Wood, Will Turner, Scott Stewart, Kieran Smith (Capt.).
