Fantastic spirit from behind 19-14 down at half time and losing Gareth Webber with 20 to go.David Howland:
Don’t forget the charge of the Old Brigade as well, bearing in mind the front five had a combined age of 220!! (Keith “Chops” Packham, Gareth Webber, Dave Howland, Paul Bartlett and Simon Himbury) didn’t lose a scrum and pushed Wells off the ball 80% of the time. The young debutantes did very well and gassed Wells off the park with their silky running. Great tackling by everyone, even a Dave Howland catch, pass to Keith “Chops” Packham, pass to ‘Himbury the elder’ aka Shim for a classic ‘Shim Show and Go’ demonstration which caught out three Wells players (funniest thing I’ve seen since the late great John Lord dummies in my view), only to be ruined by ill disciplined (say no more!) call out to the ref who missed a high tackle, earlier in the game, which promptly stopped the Charge of the Old Bridge in its tracks a mere 30 yards from the try line! Try line begging with only a flimsy pasty looking back in our way!! What more can I say Mr Ruddock. Great game by Folkestone.Alex Ruddock:
It is a pity that nobody could be bothered to actually write a report of the 2nds first win in a long while!!
Thank you for your thoughts I will combine with any other comments from other team members and put something on the website, too late to send to the press. However I will try and find space in this week's match programme.
