A good win at RC Octopus Uden

RC Octopus, Uden 0 Folkestone 69 Report By John Kidson
Folkestone Rugby Club got their season off to a good start with a short tour to the Netherlands and Belgium. The main purpose of the trip was to celebrate the joint 40th Anniversaries of FRFC and RC Octopus of Uden in the Netherlands
Uden welcomed their old friends with their usual hospitality and bonhomie, but Folkestone repaid them by putting them to the sword in the actual game. Stones played champagne Rugby and were fizzing and bubbling all over the pitch. After 4 minutes, New Romanian recruit Bobby Hulpan scored the first try of the club this season with a searing burst of speed and some mazy running. He got another two minutes later but it was disallowed as not being properly grounded.
But he had shown the way to his teammates and Jack Cox needed no encouragement to thrust himself for the third. Poor Octopus had a bigger side physically but it did not count against a team bursting with fitness and energy. Uden got more dispirited when 17-year old Frankie Morgan, playing as playmaker fly half, burst through 5 tackles to score his first try for the seniors. Jon Morton kicked this conversion.
Moose Murray and Matt Roots were driving the Octopus scrum off the ball, which gave stacks of space for Morgan to work his magic. After good backing up and passing Morgan went in for try no 2. He then got good ball and placed a gem of a kick to the left corner. Strong pressure enabled Stones to snatch the ball and put Morgan over for his hat trick.
Scott Stewart was having a fine game and made lots of ground to send in Ryan Farrow. Ben Crawford was next to score, followed by Morton and then Alex Randall gave the assist for Stewart to score. Matt Roots completed a powerful performance by driving over for his try and Shane Standing made a fine run to round his man and touch down under the posts.
