A Win Under the Stars for Folkestone Rugby Club’s Under 11's

After a dismal start, the weather cleared and it became a reasonable evening for the boys’ first floodlit tournament. After a great warm-up the boys kicked off with a 10-5 win against Sittingbourne. With raised spirits Folkestone were in great shape and form to take on the other teams. Coach, Bill Parrish, says "An excellent evening was had by all despite extremely difficult conditions."

Despite the cold and mud, the boys held their heads high and played hard and fair. They went on to draw against Ash and win against Deal and Betteshanger. The Folkestone Under 11's won what they hope will be the first of an annual floodlit tournament and will strive to keep their hard-earned trophy in the Club’s collection next year. The boys’ Captain for the evening, Elliott Mynard said “It feels great to finally get a tournament win, and hopefully the first of many others. We deserved it considering the amount of effort we’ve put in over the past weeks. Despite the bad conditions, the boys played so hard and we’re proud of our success. A big thanks to all the coaching staff, as we couldn’t have done it without them. This win is as much for them as it is for us players.”
