U10's lose Final. Drawn in Group A the green and whites faced 6 encounters against teams from near and far over two days.

Another Final for the Folkestone RFC Under 10's.
Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May 2016.
The Folkestone under 10s went to the Camber Sands weekend festival for the third year running this weekend.
Drawn in Group A the green and whites faced 6 encounters against teams from near and far. On the Saturday their initial encounter being against Sidcup. Consistent aggressive rucking by Kian Lambert prevented the opposition from gaining the ball and eventually provided the swift Jonathan Schermuly opportunity to go on his famous runs. Not content with just the one try, he repeated this feat twice again, providing the young side with a 3-1 victory.
The second game of the day was against the team from Shoreham, an extremely physical game that George Edwards relished by rushing the opposition and not allowing them to gather momentum. Supported by Zackary Davenport, Callum Howes managed to slip the Shoreham defence putting the Folkestone team ahead only to be equalled shortly after. The second half saw further battered bodies from both sides, as both continually demonstrated physicality usually seen in an adult’s game. Callum Howes took the only opportunity presented in the second providing the Folkestone a second win. 2-1.
The final game of the day was against the formidable Cranbrook, to compete with this well drilled team would be a triumph. Oakley Price refused to allow this strong team to break through Folkestone’s defence, by producing tackle after tackle. By the half way mark the Stones had forged their way ahead 2-1 after Alex Cordell produced one of his unstoppable runs followed by an equally matched try by Ella Preston-Chambers. The shored up defensive line remained strong despite constant attempts by the Cranbrook team to break down the barrier. Johnathan Schermuly provided Folkestone with a further try, providing a third victory of the day 3 tries to 2.
Another early start on Sunday morning provided the team with a further 3 encounters. The three games that faced the young Folkestone team would all be against three visiting Wimbledon sides. The green and whites started the day where they left off the day before with Jonathan Schermuly adding two tries to his account, followed by Alex Cordell and Ella Preston-Chambers increasing their own tally before the half time whistle. The Wimbledon Rhinos scored a try of their own at the start of the second half before Callum Howes replied, followed by a great team try finished by James Uden, wrapping up a 6-1 win.
The Wimbledon Bears were next to face the strong Folkestone side. Jonathan Schermuly opened the score with another 2 individual runs, closely followed by a highly deserved try by Max Pickering who had constantly ruined the defence presented before him. With a 3-0 lead at the start of the second half the Folkestone side rested players that allowed the opposition to score three tries in quick succession. But Alex Cordell and Callum Howes ensured that the victory remained theirs coming out on top 5-3.
The final group game against the Wimbledon Tigers stood between Folkestone and the final. The opposition opened the scoring which presented the Folkestone team with a real test of character that they had not had to deal with thus far. But they did not let this phase them at all, and up stepped Jonathan Schermuly to level the score, and by half time William Smith was rewarded with a try for the strength he showed when taking the ball into contact. 2 tries to 1 to the good, Callum Howes added to his total and not to be out done William Smith added another to his. Callum Howes had found the weakness in the opposing teams defence and so exploited it one more time completing a 5-3 victory.
Unfortunately the Folkestone side lost three keys players for the final against Old Whitgiftians, a team coached by ex-Internationals Brian Moore and Nick Easter. This damaged the team beyond recognition and they never managed to challenge this extremely organised team who beat the White and greens without doubt. Despite this loss the Folkestone team should be proud of their achievements this year walking away with four domestic trophies.
