Canterbury Festival

The team found themselves in the second of three groups along with Dover, Ashford and Canterbury Hurricanes.
The Folkestone team watched the first game during which Ashford beat Canterbury 6 tries to 4.
Then it was time for Folkestone's first encounter against Dover and within the first 30 seconds we had scored our first try. Constantly committing to the tackle paid dividends and at half time we were 3 to 1 tries to the good. The second half saw Dover step up their game, but Folkestone remained consistent and at the final whistle won 6 tries to 2.
After watching Canterbury and Dover draw 2 tries each, Folkestone faced the team to beat, Ashford. Ashford took the lead early on but we responded, and by half time we trailed by only two tries. The second half showed the difference between the two teams, as Folkestone lost there shape in attack. Ashford took the advantage winning 7-3.
Immediately the Folkestone team needed to re focus after the defeat as they went straight into a contest against Canterbury. From outset it was always going to be a close run thing, but as in their first game Folkestone made tackle after tackle winning the ball and finally the game 4 tries to 3. Out of the 4 teams in our group we achieved a well earned second place.
