Folkestone Under 9s were drawn against Deal Betteshanger, Whitstable and Sheppey in their pool. In the first match Folkestone fought well to win against Deal by 4 tries to 2 with some fantastic handling in the very wet conditions.

Next up were Whitstable who were too strong with two very quick players, the Stones losing by 6 tries to nil. The final pool match against Sheppey saw Folkestone leading by one try and for the last three minutes they defended heroically to win the game by 2 tries to one. This took the U9s to their first ever Plate semi final against Ashford ‘A’ team. Folkestone took the lead in the first minute but Ashford fought back to level the scores. In the second half Ashford came out strong scoring two tries to take the lead 3-1. Folkestone gave all they had and pulled one back, eventually losing 3 tries to 2.

Overall a fantastic day for Folkestone with some great individual performances from Jakob Bennett, a newcomer to the team and the game. He was awarded the ‘man of the match’. Brad Boyce another novice also made his presence known. The tries for the Stones were scored by William Luff, Hadley Pilcher and Benito Decicco.
