Kent U13 sevens competition by Mark Santer

Folkestone Under 13s travelled to Canterbury to compete in their first 7s competition, coming away having shown a lot of promise in reaching the semi finals of the tournament.

Blackheath 21 Folkestone 12
when the coaches first looked at our group we knew we were going to be pushed to perform at our best, and that is what the Folkestone boys did in the first game against Blackheath, we really rattled them in first half scoring and converting with no reply, they really panicked, and started the second half badly allowing us to score again, before finding their stride finishing ahead by 21 points to 12. and everyone knew that Folkestone had come to play!

Folkestone 28 Cranbrook 0
the next game was a little one sided, but fiercely contested by Cranbrook, who are an excellent side. Folkestone dominated. One of two golden Rugby moments happened in this game close to opponents tryline Harry Wren was bought to ground but popped the ball quickly to Hobbsy running at pace who crashed through to score.... beautiful!

Old Colfeians 7 Folkestone 21
this match was played against what seemed like grown men, they were huge, but luckily they tired really quickly and we managed to defend a lead until the end

Folkestone 33 Sheppey 7
Our success continued with a very spirited game against a Sheppey side who had played their games really well, but the pace and determination of Folkestone lads shone through.

The second of two golden moments was in this game the ball went to ground about halfway up the pitch, scrum half Jack Lewis dived on it scooping up a long range pass to Hobbsy who carried it forward and we scored ........awesome!

Ashford 7 Folkestone 33
quarter finals
having come second in our group we then played Ashford, they could not contend with the back row pace, nor the front row determination, we won a sweet victory against our local rivals.

Aylseford 10 Folkestone 7
semi finals
we played a great game against a strong opponent, we gifted a couple of trys and had difficulty coping with the outstanding pace of one of their players, that said they knew they were in a game we wanted to win, and overall finishing in the top four in Kent is an outstanding result for our homegrown squad.

we will celebrate our most successful season so far on the 25th, all lads in collar and tie please

Squad: Dan Croker, Tyler Russell, Louis Santer, Max Howitt, Jack Lewis, Josh Palmer, Harry Wren, Billi Stonebridge, Jack Hobbs, Luke McAdam, Teds Morris, Charlie Stratford.

Man of the tournament Max Howitt, Muppet of the tournament Louis Santer for not having shorts , undershorts, or gum shield on the morning of the tournament, and giving his dad too much stress!
