Folkestone U13s finish season strongly
Building on recent solid performances at the Kent Cup and Kent 7s tournament the Folkestone U13s rugby team ended the season strongly last weekend at the Camber Rugby Festival.
The team won 4 out of 6 matches to come second overall. Their final matches saw an excellent 45-10 victory over Chipstead before a 30-5 win over Epping. Of particular note were Jonny Schermuly’s kick and collect try, the powerful scrum and the pace of Owen Chapman (whose twin brother Calum also won his first start for the team).
Folkestone U13s were beaten by an excellent Ruislip team in the final match though secured 2nd position overall in the tournament. The team has ended the season very well demonstrating that true teamwork is at the heart of sporting success. They are looking forward to further victories when the season starts again in September.
If you know of any new or existing players currently in year 8 at school who would be interested in joining Folkestone U14s next season they will be holding an open day on 1st September. For more information please visit www.folkestonerugbyclub.co.uk
