East Kent U13’s Plate Final
29th March 2015 Report by Alison Hughes
Sittingbourne U13’s 0 Folkestone U13’s 53
Folkestone travelled to Ashford to meet Sittingbourne in the East Kent Final.
The boys put in a convincing display and dominated play from the outset. Johnnie Hobbs (captain) led by example and put in a formidably physical performance. The rest of the squad followed suit with some superbly fluid passing and excellent use of space. The squad also put in some crunching tackles. Despite being physically out-weighed by Sittingbourne, the Team stuck to their game plan of quick recycled ball and it soon paid off as tries in the first half came from Aurelien Austin, Dylan Barnes, Harry Curtis and Freddie Faiers (2) with two conversions from the able boot of Aurelien Austin which had the Folkestone lads leading 29-0 at half time.
The second half was much the same as the Folkestone lads kept up the pace. The referee called the game to an early halt when Folkestone’s points tally totalled 53. Second half tries came courtesy of Johnnie Hobbs, William Rayner, Harry Curtis and Adam Butler. Aurelien Austin secured two conversions.
