Terrible Weather - the home team adapted better

In weather which could only be described as absolutely terrible, Folkestone Under 13s arrived in Thanet for what would invariable by another test of the boys' resolve. The constant biting wind and rain would ensure a shaky game from both sides and so it proved to be.

From the Thanet kick off Stones fumbled their first touch of a slippery ball and with Thanet in chase the ball was lost allowing Thanet to get on to the scoreboard within moments. The game then settled into a pattern largely due to the terrible conditions, dropped balls and knock-ons by both sides giving plenty of chances for the two teams to test out the forwards in the scrums. On 2 occasions Noah Reynolds was able to collect the ball for Stones but try as he might, there was no way through the Thanet defence and on each occasion Thanet were able to score on the counter. Folkestone's best move of the half move saw Noah offload to Ben Jeffery after another run, brining Stone's tantalisingly close to the Thanet try line, only for Thanet to pick up a loose ball, running in for another try. By the end of the first half Folkestone were 5 tries down for no reply with each one of the lads on the field clearly suffering from the conditions; which by this time had seen rain wind and hail.

The second half saw Thanet again score freely, taking advantage of Folkestone's inability to manage as well in the conditions. Full time score 54 – 0. Players who stood out today were notably Ben Fairclough and Aiden Fagg; both for being willing to put in the tackles. The team as a whole lacked shape this week, too often drawn in and therefore leaving space on the flanks which Thanet expoilted.
