A game of 2 halves, but looking smart!
On a typically miserable late November morning Folkestone’s U14s travelled across the county to visit Thanet, looking for a strong performance against a normally tough team. Each boy arrived in their new training tops, provided by Magnox who earlier in the week had visited the club to see the boys kitted out in their finery.
The match played out in a fairly predictable pattern against such opposition; Folkestone missing critical tackles or getting pulled in narrowing their defence. Yet to their credit the lads never displayed any sign of giving up, despite ending the first half 48-0 down.
The second half, with a slight downhill advantage and the wind behind them, the young Stones truly made this a game of 2 halves, first to score for them was Nikesh Thapa-Chhetri with a typically tenacious display. Not long after, following a series of penalties against Thanet near their try line, Tom Cloak sniped a try, giving a 10-0 lead in the second half.
Thanet came back at Folkestone, scoring 3 and converting one, but not before Folkestone scored a 3rd with some keen interplay between Lewis Hammerton and Nikesh Thapa-Chhetri before getting the ball to Toby Yemm to plant the ball down over the Thanet try line.
