OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AS STONES TAKE MEDWAY APART.

Folkestone U14s 31 Medway U14s 0

Sunday 17th January 2016. Report from Neil Austin.

The satisfaction could be seen across the faces of every player and coach after what was predicted to be a tight match turned out to be probably the best Stones performance of the season and a big win.

With both sides having over 20 players in their squads it was decided to play 3 x 20mins to allow every player time on the pitch.

Medway kicked off and from the start the Stones were fired up with a strong run from Dylan Barnes and two scrums taken against the head and it was no surprise when following sustained pressure on the Medway line Tom Whelan broke clear to cross the line and with the well struck conversion just going wide the Stones were ahead 5 – 0.
The Large Medway pack started to impose itself so it was good to see another take against the head with the ball being quickly fed left to Adam Butler who crashed over the try line with Ted Bean adding the extra points for the first session to end 12 - 0 for the Stones.
The second session followed a similar pattern with the only score coming from Freddie Faiers who picked the ball up near the touchline and raced the length of the pitch to score. Aurelien Austin added the extra points and the second session ended 19 – 0 for the Stones.
In the final session the Stones were completely in control and everybody was treated to some outstanding 15 man rugby. Will Rayner bruised his way over the try line to put the Stones further ahead 24 – 0 followed by a classic Dylan Barnes run and try with Ted Bean adding the extra points to end the match 31 – 0 for the Stones.

Squad: Johnnie Hobbs (captain), Ciaran Hughes, Tom Whelan, Will Rayner, George Bass, Jake Beal, Ted Bean, Connor O’Brien, Lewis Dorrell, Tiernan Canning, Tom Leather, James Hughes, Dylan Barnes, Adam Butler, Aurelien Austin, Harry Curtis, Brandon Miller-Lesley, Finley Russell, Tyler Marjoram, James Leather, Freddie Faiers.
