Folkestone 2nd XV 22 v Medway 0
10th December 2016 Shepherd Neame Premier 2 East Report by Steve Hughes

This was a game that Folkestone were worried that they would lose due to the lack of available players. The 3rd XV match was cancelled and 6 players were elevated to the 2nds for the day and played an integral part in the well deserved victory.
The inclusion of two of the Dempsey brothers also contributed to the win with Lewis, built more like a lock that an outside half controlling the game whilst his brother Elliot assisted by Jeremie Cowell roamed around the park as flankers looking for someone to tackle.
Folkestone kept the visitors penned in their own half for 38 minutes of the first half and it would have been a travesty if they had managed to convert the penalty they earned on the home 22m line as the half drew to a close.
However Folkestone opened the score when the pack secured the ball from a loose maul in front of the posts to send Lewis Dempsey slicing through the defence to score and convert his own try.
Half time score 7 - 0.
The Folkestone pack were dominant in the set scrum led by Captain Alex Box but lost out in the aerial battle in the line outs. Defence was good on both sides and I was impressed with Kyran Page, a slightly built scrum half punching above his weight in the tackle. Dan Sharratt and Anthony Bass also put in some powerful tackles as did Ross Johnson and Liam Purdie in the centre. Ryan Morgan, Drew Mclaren and Jack Shorter were full of running and I would have liked to see them get a better share of the second half ball.
The visitors managed to keep the home side out until the later part of the second half until Ross Johnson crossed from a loose ball which had been moved to the right. No conversion 12 - 0.
Lewis Dempsey then cleverly chipped the ball into the open space behind the full back for Drew McLaren to gather and score an unconverted try. 17 - 0.
Folkestone rounded up the score when Peter White won the ball off the top of the line out assisted by Billy Monk, saw the ball being off-loaded several times before my Man of the Match Lewis Dempsey scored again but could not convert it. Final Score 22 - 0.
