On an ideal day for playing entertaining rugby Stones did not disappoint. From the start Stones began the game in a very lively pace moving the ball well with quick possession from the breakdowns and in the third minute the ball was moved wide allowing Harry Dean to sprint over for an unconverted try 5-0. Stones continued in the same vein and attacked the visitors with good flowing rugby and inter-passing which resulted in Scott Stewart to break through and charge down the touchline, outpacing the defence, to score an unconverted try advancing the score after 7 minutes to 10-0. Stones continued with their impressive quick play and good handling ultimately to Callum Palmieri to slip through Sidcup’s defence and score a try in the 17th minute giving Stones a 15 point lead.
Sidcup regathered and came back at Stones, but with a breakdown in play Stones attacked from a scrum and broke downfield with the the evergreen Scott Stewart on hand to take the pass and sprint over for a converted try giving Stones a comfortable 22 point lead. From the kick off the visitors disrupted Stones defence and through good passes through their forwards they released the ball to their backs and with some indifferent tackling from Stones they scored an unconverted try, 22-5.
From the restart Stones pressurised the visitors forcing a penalty which Stones kicked for touch and from the lineout the forwards drove over the visitors try line for hooker James Cousens to score a converted try -29 – 5. Sidcup then began an attack at pace and on the stroke of half time scored a converted try 29-12.
The second half started at a slower pace with neither side moving the ball effectively, but eventually this deadlock was broken when Stones regained their momentum forcing the visitors to concede a penalty and from a 5 metre line-out the forwards drove over the visitors try line James Cousens eventually forcing himself and the ball over the try line in a frantic melee of players. 34-12.
Stones momentum continued against a flagging opposition and again, aided with good interplay, Woody Faires broke through the visitor’s defence to score a converted try increasing the scoreline to 41-12. Stones continued their attacking rugby and with good interplay Alex Price crashed through the visitor’s defence to score a converted try 46-19. The visitors rallied and attacked Stones defence forcing their way over for a converted try. But Immediately from the restart Stones went on the attack with fast running and crisp passing finishing with Harry Dean in a furious sprint race for the line which he won finishing with another touchdown. But he was not finished as Folkestone were rampant against a tired and defeated opposition and when Dean collected the ball in his own half no-one had the energy, or the speed to prevent the 10th try for a very impressive Folkestone win.
