As I’m sure you are aware our pitches are in risk of not being playable this season, I’m sure this applies to any gardens or grass areas that surround you .and many other clubs in our areas.

The club had invested in Fertiliser and various other care on pitch 1 and 2 which normally would support all our training and playing requirements during the season. We did, and still have green growth under the brown desert you are now seeing on these areas.

In order to PERHAPS give pitch 1 and 2 an ability to be played on, we have purchased at great cost a stand alone self driven watering machine. This I hope will at least give what grass we have left a chance to recover in the predicted future lack of rain. Before doing this I have contacted Affinity water who have given the go ahead to do this and estimate that we won’t have a hose ban in the coming months as all our water is stored underneath the soil so not subjected to constant heat evaporation.

It’s not just the cost of the mechine, but more importantly the cost of the water which we are closely monitoring. This will eat into our budget, but without pitches we don’t have Rugby .

For those of you who have not renewed your membership, can I please remind you it is due by the 31st August.
