A Message from Ian Kennett.

You may recall that in April 2011 a team including 4 wounded soldiers, successfully completed an unsupported trek to the North Pole, an amazing feat which was the subject of the inspirational BBC documentary Harry’s Arctic Heroes.
Not content with that unbelievable achievement, in May this year another group will attempt to successfully summit Mount Everest and put a team of wounded servicemen on top of the world!
I have been given the opportunity of trekking to Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5276m with the extended team.
Those of you who know me will realise that my best playing days are long behind me , the under 11s run rings round me and I am best described as a 'slightly unfit' forty something (aka short fat bald b*stard) the upshot being that physical exertion of this nature could be interesting to say the least, however once the laughter has died down my immediate goal is to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.
You will all have seen the news reports and documentaries which graphically show the consequences for the service men and women injured in the line of duty.
Walking with the Wounded raises funds to finance new qualifications, courses and further education for those who are seriously injured. It enables the blind, the burn victims, the mentally injured, the amputees and all the other wounded personnel to rebuild their lives and to return to the work place.
