FOLKESTONE RUGBY:
CATHERINE HELPS TO RING THE CHANGES
Folkestone Rugby Club, at the request of the coaches and players, have changed the date and the format of their annual Spitfire Tournament. Instead of a pre season 15 a Side it is now an end of season 10 a Side tournament and will take place this Saturday 2nd May.
A new feature will be a Ladies tournament to run concurrently with the men's competition.
The former Captain of England, Catherine Spencer will inaugurate the new tournament and play for the Veteran Ladies team “Brabarians, who will play a “round robin” against Folkestone Fillies, Canterbury Invitation side and Christchurch College. Catherine learned her rugby at Folkestone Rugby Club from a 7 year old before graduating to Premiership Rugby and England. She has never forgotten her alma mater and readily agreed to inaugurate this new tournament.
The Ladies matches will be interleaved with those of the men's tournament between Folkestone, Ashford, Aylesford, Cougars XV, Ashford Barbarians and Whitstable. The first men’s matches kick off at 10.30am with the first ladies matches kicking off at 11 am.”
