The match was a curtain raiser for the switching on of the new Floodlights for the FRFC XV versus Ashford XV game

The game had 10 minute halves, and the first half was played with 9 players, and the 2nd half of 10 minutes was played by a separate 10 players. The new U10 game rules are played with 8 players on the field at a time and introduces uncontested 3 man scrums and rucking and mauling.

This was the 1st game of the season, with over half of last season’s players having not picked up a rugby ball since the French tour in June. In addition we had 2 new players who had only picked up a rugby ball Sunday 31st August the first time, and at this game.

Folkestone U10s were judged to be the better of the two sides at rucking especially. The stars at the rucking and mauling were Maddox Francis, George Foord, Oscar McDonald, Connor Horn, Lucio Decicco and Jim Duncan. Maddox Francis’s contribution was truly awesome.

The defence was pretty solid with exceptional cover by Edward Faier, Bradley Dorrell, Luke Baigent, Maddox Francis, Oscar McDonald, Lucio Decicco, Harry Dean, and Ryan Morton.

On the attack Ashford were constantly harassed by a number of players namely: Edward Faier, Harry Dean, Lucio Decicco, Felix Pavitt, Luke Baigent, Oscar McDonald and George Foord.
Try Scorers: Harry Dean x 2. George Foord x1.

The match gave the U10 coaching team lots of information on areas of development.

All in all a great nights exhibition of rugby played in great spirit, and supported by what might be the biggest crowd of Ashford and Folkestone supporters in a couple of years.
