Wasps Legend returns to the club!

Having completed an open and thorough selection process Folkestone Rugby Club are delighted to announce that Wasps legend Darren Molloy will be returning to the club as Head Coach for the forthcoming season.

Darren brings with him a wealth of experience having played for Gloucester, Leinster and having had a long career at Wasps as well as representative honours for England Students, England U19, England U21 and Ireland A.
As well as previously coaching for four seasons at Folkestone Darren as coached at Westcombe Park and Canterbury amongst others and been responsible for successfully delivering rugby at Ravenswood School, The Folkestone Academy and currently at The Duke of York’s School. In addition to this he is also a qualified RFU Development Coach, providing training to coaches across the county.

Darren is excited to get to work underway preparing the players for the forthcoming season. He said “We had some great times when I was here before but I left the club to do my teacher training as there just wasn’t enough time to do that and coaching. I’m in a position to get back to coaching again and with the players and facilities here it’s great to be returning. I’m really looking forward to getting the boys together and working towards the new season”.

Director of Rugby Keith Woodward said “It’s great to have someone with Darren’s experience and vision. He has played at the top level and wants to take the club forward from seniors to minis. These are exciting times as we look to develop rugby through-out the club and I look forward to the challenge“.

The club would also like take this opportunity to thank Leigh Fitchie for his loyal and dedicated service as a player and a coach over many seasons. In particular we would like to thank him for his hard work and passion over the last three seasons. His drive and determination have been key to the first XV results in the last season and achieving fourth place in the league. We wish him well for the future.

Senior pre-season training starts on Tuesday 4th July 2017. Be at the club at 6.30pm to be out on the pitch for 7pm. Training will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from then on.
