Halfway through last season Nick Ford and Ben Edwards joined Darren Molloy's Folkestone Revolution. In before them were Richard Puddy and Scotty Evans from New Zealand and Michal Krizanek and Jakub Kopriva from the Czech Republic all wanting to play for The Stones. All 6 of them were fantastic. With all these guys wanting to travel to Folkestone it showed that there was something at the club which people liked. It could have been the homosexual tendencies of the 1st XV backs or it could have been John Kidson's filthy jokes or it could have been the chance to have a great time and play some high quality rugby.
With the 2011/2012 season only just gone our supporters will be pleased to hear that already 2 new players are on their way. They both look like power players and nasty enough to join Rob Hudson's platoon of enforcers. Here's a little bit about them.
First in from Ashford is Tony Ledgerton.
He is nicknamed ‘The Ape’. He's 5ft11 currently 14stone 3llbs and originates from Runcorn in the north of England. He previously played rugby for Ashford winning their Players Player award, He also played for Kent A & B Squads as a prop and flanker. He trialled for Esher's 2011 Academy but travelling was impossibly difficult. He's a gym fanatic and loves cardio as much as weights/ muscle training. His main interest is plyometric training to develop raw power and strength, rather than size, to give the ultimate performance. He has worked within the gym industry and currently privately trains a friend’s father. He enjoys heavy metal and a good social event and most of all the challenge. I'm not sure if he's discovered the Priz yet!
And in from Gibraltar is Aidan Dean Beazley
He arrives in Folkestone on June 28. He is the current Gibraltar captain and is looking forward to rugby - Folkestone style. He can play any position in the scrum except hooker. This season he has been playing prop - loose and tight and also a few games at number 8 and lock
In a season of 10 games he scored 17 trys for his club. He represented Gibraltar in the Commonwealth Games Sevens. He is 6 ft 5 and weighs just under 19 stones and can run the 100m in 13.9 seconds. This season he was voted Gibraltar's ' Best Under 18 Player'. He had the chance to play for Gibraltar's 1st team, "but turned
it down to play some real rugby in England where my dad lives in Cheriton".
Welcome to Stonesland lads.
In the photos Aidan is in the red shirt and Tony is the guy looking for a fight!
